38 Weeks and Counting

I am already 38 weeks! That means our little girl can come at any time now. There are some days that I wish she would just go ahead and make her entrance. I am getting pretty uncomfortable now, and bed rest doesn’t make it easier. I am on bed rest now even though my blood pressure has been in the good range for the last couple appointments.

I must admit there is ONE thing that I miss most with being pregnant. I miss running and working out.I know you are supposed to wait the 6 weeks before you start any training plan after giving birth… but I plan on starting back as soon as I feel up to it. I don’t plan on starting to run a week after giving birth, but I do plan on starting slow and walking. Living in the beautiful state of Florida, our weather allows many opportunities to exercise outside. I am in the midst of creating a training plan to get back into running slowly with our baby girl.

My husband’s Nana and Papa purchased us our travel system for our baby. It is the Baby Trend Expedition Travel System. joggerOf course the colors are perfect for welcoming a baby girl into the world, but my favorite feature is the jogging stroller. I can’t give a review yet on the actual use of the stroller or car seat since our little girl isn’t here yet, but so far I LOVE it. The car seat fits in the jogging stroller to provide support for an infant while jogging or running. This jogging system will be a life saver for me. After she arrives I want to get right back to walking, and what better way then to take her for a nice walk during the morning weather.

Our neighborhood is nice and quiet so walking after the school kids catch the bus is the ideal time. I think this is a good opportunity for me to begin taking our Dog Bella for walks as well. We have a nice big backyard that she runs around in, but she used to LOVE walking/running with me.

Did I already say how boring bed rest is? If not, here it is again… I know that bed rest is what the doctor ordered for me, but it is so boring just sitting on the couch or in the rocking chair all day. I am allowed to get up a little bit and piddle around the house. It is quite difficult for me to maneuver around the kitchen with my big ole baby belly, but I manage some how. There is a list of crafts that I want to complete before baby girl gets here, but I don’t have the motivation to do them. I have however finished her nursery! Everything is put away and ready for her to make her entrance.

My husband is getting more and more excited the closer we get to going into labor. Every morning before he leaves for work he talks to my belly and tells her that she needs to “hurry up” and get out of there. I am pretty sure that she already has him wrapped around her little fingers!

The harder things become.

When you are training for a race, or working out, the further along in the training you get, the easier it gets. Well the further along in pregnancy that you get the harder EVERYTHING gets. Before we got pregnant I could easily do errands all day, or work in the cow pens. Not any more.

Yesterday my husband was taking his Middle School livestock judging team to competition. (He is Agriculture teacher and they have competitions throughout the state) So not really thinking about how long of a day it was going to be, I agreed to go with him. We left the house at about 5:30 that morning and met the kids at the school. 1 1/2 hours later, we arrived at the Plant City Strawberry Festival. Now during the competition we didn't do much, besides sit around. Towards the end of the competition my hubby and I went on the search for the best Strawberry Shortcake. Since we were at the Strawberry Festival, there are strawberries EVERYWHERE! I found my shortcake and thoroughly enjoyed it! We finally left the festival around 1PM. Of course we had to take the students to lunch on the way home. So we didn't get back to the school until almost 3PM.

Once we got back to the school, our day was still not done. We had to clip the hair on one of the steers (male cattle that has been castrated) for the show this week. I was exhausted by this time. A few hours later we made it home. I ate a sandwich for supper and got ready for bed. I was in bed by 8PM (although with the time change it was really kind of like 9PM).

Well the Fair has started, an today was the market animal weigh-in. I really wanted to go and help out, but the weather is supposed to be 83 degrees today, and it is going to be another very long day. When I got out of bed this morning I was still sore. It literally felt like I had just finished a half marathon. So I opted out of going to the weigh-in today.

As much as I am missing going to the fair today, I know that exhaustion is not a good idea being almost 33 weeks so I am home bound for the day. I am at that point in my pregnancy now that I am just uncomfortable. I also have some of the craziest dreams at night. Last night I had a night mare that the baby came, and we didn't have anything at all for her. Her crib wasn't ready, we didn't have a bassinet, or blankets or anything for her. I keep having dreams like this, however this was the first Night mare that I had.

Being pregnant is an amazing feeling, I just wish I could keep up with things that I used to be. Stay tuned, I am going to post about the nursery soon.

25 weeks today!

Time has flown by! It feels like just yesterday that I found out we were expecting a little one... and now I am already 25 weeks along. Only 15 more weeks to go. That is 15 more Sundays to get through before she is here. This pregnancy has been quite amazing! Yea I had some morning sickness in the beginning and I didn't want to eat anything but other than that the symptoms have been completely bearable.

I think my favorite thing about being pregnant is feeling her move around. That is the most enjoyable part of growing a little one. She is quite bashful though when it comes to others feeling her move. My husband gets to feel her move around at night when we spend time together watching Jeopardy, but every time someone else touches my belly she stops moving around.

The nesting mode had kicked in full swing for me. I would rather clean my whole house than sit and watch an online lecture for my classes. Her room is cleaned out finally (since it was a junk room), and her crib is set up.  Her dresser still needs to be painted, and I am trying my absolute hardest not to go buy baby stuff for her. I am having two baby showers.

One of the showers is from the girls that I used to work with when we lived in Gainesville. These girls were my best friends, and my family. Well a little bit of funny trivia... My husband and I moved from Gainesville in July  2012, we got pregnant the end of August 2012.. Well two of the other girls that I worked with got pregnant then as well. So this baby shower is to celebrate all the babies. It is going to be soooo nice to catch up with these girls again.

My other shower is being given to me by my mom and sister-in-law. This will be a HUGE shower. My husband has quite a large family :-) plus we will include all of our church family in this shower.

On a side note, there are a lot of babies that are due the first part of the year in my hometown! I know of at least seven right off the top of my head!!! It is definitely the year of the babies!

Since I haven't been writing about my pregnancy all along, here is a picture of my growing tummy!

I am no longer wearing regular jeans, even though I probably could since she stays really high, but they just aren't comfortable anymore. I love seeing my belly getting bigger as time goes on.

Well I am going to find something to do. Have a great night.

Glucose Tolerance Test :(

Yesterday I went for my glucose tolerance test. I am 24 weeks pregnant so it was the perfect time to get it done. I made an appointment for 8:15 AM since I wasn't allowed to eat very much before hand. (I was only allowed a piece of toast, which I put butter on, and water.) I got to the lab at 7:45 hoping that I would be called back a little sooner to begin the dreaded hour long wait. Well at 8 AM they gave me the little bottle of glucose to drink. It was orange flavored and right out of the fridge, so I wasn't too worried about the taste. After taking my first sip I wrinkled my nose and thought twice about chugging the whole thing. It tasted like flat orange soda, but it was thick like syrup. The taste wasn't that bad, but it was REALLY sweet! I was kind of worried that it was going to make my sick being that sweet but my body tolerated it well enough.

After about 5 minutes of drinking the whole thing, my baby girl was bouncing and kicking and moving all around inside. I have never felt her move so much! Long story short, after waiting in the waiting room for a hour I went back and got my blood drawn. That was it. I was done with the one hour test.

So today I received a call from my doctor's office. They said that I failed my glucose test. A healthy level is under 140, and mine was 146. So I literally was borderline pass/fail. But this means that I now get to take the 3 HOUR test! I am going next week for that one. This time I am not allowed to eat anything before my test, and after drinking the glucose, I have to wait three hours before I am done. 3 hours of sitting in a waiting room getting blood drawn every hour. The test is to make sure that I don't have gestational diabetes. Granted I am not dreading the actual test, I am just dreading the waiting around and sitting. My best friend is going to sit with me and keep me company, but I think it is still going to be extremely boring!

On a lighter note, my husband and I finally got to go out to dinner and enjoy each others company. We were going to catch a movie as well, but the movie theaters around here don't have late showings of the Hobbit. So we settled for Red Lobster and a early night back home. Although it is 9:00 PM now, and I am already ready for bed. The pregnancy thing is wonderful except for being tired so early in the night. But I think I will take advantage of being able to get a full 8 hours of sleep now, cause in 4 months things will be pretty different.

Well I think it is off to slumber for me we have a long day ahead tomorrow!

XOXO,
Jenna
